Major Appliance Recycling (MARS) has been in business since 1986. Acting primarily as a "feeder yard", MARS performs bulk haul away services for several national department stores, government agencies, city housing, apartment complexes, property management companies and residential dwellings. MARS receives a wide variety of items including appliances (washers, dryers, refrigerators, ovens, microwaves, water heaters, etc.), electronic devices (televisions, computer monitors, etc.) and other items such as barbeques, lawn mowers, gardening equipment, fitness equipment, and vacuum cleaners.

MARS provides a facility and a storage yard that accepts and salvages a wide variety of separated, non-hazardous discards, including household fixtures, appliances and furniture; we also conduct dismantling, reconditioning and upgrading of these materials, fixtures, appliances and furniture.

Many of the items MARS acquires have minor cosmetic defects (scratches and dents) and must be disposed of offsite. Therefore, MARS is not a typical electronics recycling facility and does not conduct dismantling, crushing, shredding, or shearing operations at their facility. A small percentage of electronic waste can be donated or reused again, but the majority of it gets de-manufactured.
